Welcome to the Turnstone Class 2024-2025
Welcome to Turnstones, and the year 3 family. This is a fun-filled, busy year. As a class, we are deeply committed to helping your children flourish and become the best they can be. In the coming year, we will succeed as a team, embrace challenges, and continue on our St Peter’s journey!
Year 3 Team:
Class Teacher: Mr Carter.
Teaching Assistants: Mrs Edmonson (Mon - Thurs) and Mrs Jeffreys (Mornings and Friday).
Mrs Biggs covers the class on a Wednesday morning.
In Year 3, the children begin their journey using Accelerated Reader. After completing a book, the children have a test to complete, which focuses on their understanding of the texts they read. This is a new experience for the Year 3 children, but there is nothing to worry about. We are here to guide them every step of the way. We still recommend that the children read a minimum of three times a week and still read to an adult; we understand that this is not always possible at times, and please communicate with the school any concerns.
Children will also receive weekly spelling and handwriting practice and may occasionally come home with additional homework related to the broader curriculum.
The class will be swimming on a Tuesday morning after the Easter break. We will have a PE lesson on Wednesday mornings with Mrs Biggs all year and PE on Fridays up to Easter with Mr Carter.
After Christmas, Year 3 also has the wonderful opportunity to learn the Ukulele; children will have a lesson weekly and will bring their Ukulele home to practise.

The class will have the opportunity to change/pick a library book every Thursday.
