Class Teacher: Mrs Winter (Tuesday - Friday) Mr Carter (Monday) 

Mrs Joynson supports the class each day. 

We have had a wonderful, positive start to the school year and have thoroughly enjoyed spending time getting to know each child in our class.

We have a very busy and exciting year ahead of us, filled with interesting topics, engaging learning experiences and wonderful enrichment opportunities that will help bring our learning to life. We look forward to sharing our journey with you and helping your child to learn, grow and flourish throughout the year.

This year, our teaching team includes Mr. Carter, who teaches on Mondays and Mrs. Winter, who teaches for the rest of the week. We are also very fortunate to have our fantastic full-time Teaching Assistant, Miss. Joynson, with us every day.

Together, we make a strong and dedicated team, with the children's wellbeing, and learning at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a nurturing, supportive and inspiring classroom environment where every child feels valued, confident and able to achieve their very best.

PE

Our PE days are Monday and Thursday. The children will need their P.E. kit in school at all times as there are often extra opportunities to get outside and get active. In the winter plain black leggings/ joggers and a jumper are useful as we will still be going outside weather permitting. Please can you make sure that all items are labelled, shoulder length hair is tied back and no earrings please.

READING

Reading is one of the most important skills your child will develop in Year 2 and has a huge impact on their progress across the curriculum. Regular reading helps children to build fluency, expand their vocabulary, improve their understanding and develop a lifelong love of books.

We strongly encourage children to read at home as often as possible, at the very least three times a week. Even short, regular reading sessions can make a significant difference to your child's confidence, enjoyment and achievement.

The children will also have opportunity to visit the school library once a week, as well as a trip to Heysham library each term.

COMMUNICATION

Mornings can be a particularly busy time as children settle into the school day. If you have a quick message, please feel free to speak to a member of staff, although we would kindly ask that, where possible, this is done after school.

If you would like to discuss a matter in more detail or have any concerns, please contact the school office to arrange an appointment. When making contact, it would be helpful if you could provide a brief outline of the matter you wish to discuss, along with your availability for a telephone call. We will then get back to you as soon as possible.
